The Top 10 New Year's Resolutions for Vloggers and Bloggers for 2014 !

So it's 2014, we made it through another trip around the sun without dieing, congradulations.  But how much did you accomplish?  I accomplished everything I wanted!  If your like me, you accomplished everything you wanted your answer to that question is: "not enough!"  So you probably have some designs to make this year more productive than last year.  No matter how much we get done however, we always want to do even better.  Here is a list of the top 10 New Year's resolutions for vloggers and bloggers for 2014:

1. Respond to Every Tweet and Comment

2. Post More Often

3. Network Everyday

3. Create a Blogroll or Clean Yours Out

4. Fix Sidebar and Any Broken Links

5. Learn Something New  

6. Try a New Monetization Method

7. Try a New Promotion Method  

9. Renovate Your Blog! Get a New Theme/Appearance  

10. Improve Your Blog's Functionality

Notice that I formatted the text of that list so that the first three stand out more.  That wasn't an accident.  Although everything on that list would be a good goal and improvement for your blog or vlog, the first three are what I consider habits that can literally change the game for you THIS very year.  Especially the first and third.  Interacting with others is how we cultivate a dedicated fanbase.  Taking the time to respond to tweets and comments is the best way to do this, and try to ask them a question too, try to keep the conversation going for at least a few exchanges.  And taking the time to find useful people to network with and then doing it is absolutely crucial.  It can be tempting to focus on bells and whistles but the highest leverage use of your time is usually going to be networking.

German Garmendia the South American YouTube Star

German Garmendia is one of the first international vloggers to really hit the big time.  I mean, the cream of the crop, at the tippy-tippy-top of the YouTube heap.  He has over 12,000,000 subscribers putting him along sides Smosh, and JMarbs, and that goofy PewDie-Whatever-I-Don't-Play-Video-Games-So-I-Don't-Care-About-Lets-Plays-Sorry-Guys.

How to watch HolaSoyGerman in English?  Simple, just click the CC button in the lower right side of the video and select the English closed caption option.  

Some of the videos only have one CC language available, so if it's not there then you won't be able to get the translation you wanted.

This confirms something I've been saying for YEARS now.  The hottest place to be in terms of opportunity for YouTube superstardom is, well...  Anywhere.

Anywhere else.

Anywhere other than the United States or Western Europe.  Latin America has blown up in a big big way and will continue to do so.  I'm a bit familiar with Latin culture myself, so I'm definitely curious to see what flavor of videos they will make and what idiocentricities they will bring.  I could see a lot of soccer type stuff.  I think it'd be great to see some sort of, simple, home-made, webisode style, novela's.  Especially made a little user-friendly so that an American audience might enjoy them.  The Spanish language broadcast network Univision for years has surpassed NBC in terms of popularity right here in America, and many non-Latinos have taken to them as well.

German does sketch comedy vlogs with jump cuts and a playground appropriate energy level.  I have dubbed him the "Latin Shane Dawson."

Even though he's amassed so many subscribers, he seems quite natural and real.  The cheap iMovie style intro suggests that he truly is still doing this on his own, and hasn't been scooped up and corrupted by some network like Maker Studios, etc.

Because of the Spanish-only nature of his videos, many in the United States and Western Europe haven't even heard of him yet.  So consider yourself quite "in-the-know" to be familiar with him.  I expect we'll be hearing a lot about mister Garmendia in the near future.  Keep it up German.  And congradulations of being the one to break that Glass Language Ceiling.

Andrea Russet's Birthday Party!

Andrea Russett of the brilliantly named channel GettoxFabxForever (pretty gangsta) has a birthday on Wednessday (June 27).  Which just so happens to be my birthday too.  My post about Andrea Russett interviewing B.O.B. has been my most popular post so far and has been driving quite a bit of traffic to my site.  Also my YouTube videos pertaining to her have been getting thousands of views as well.

 

Since me and her share a birthday I felt compelled to give her a present.  So I made her this super-awesome infographic detailing a few landmarks on her journey to stardom as well as some impressive stats in terms of her views and subs etc.

So there you have it.  If you didn't know, Andrea is very rapidly rising beyond YouTube fame.  Her job at the radio station netted her an interview with 1D including a Nerf gun fight.

sXePhil - Famous YouTuber Review

Philip DeFranco (real name Philip Franchina) is a current events/comedy vlogger who hosts a show called "The Phillip DeFranco Show" on his long time YouTube channel sXePhil.  He has been making videos for several years and is considered one of the pioneers of the "YouTube show" and is one of the original and best known YouTube stars.

 I have been watching Phil since very early on in his YouTube career.  There's really no way for me to communicate to you what it's like to have watched a YouTuber back when they were nobody, simply making amateur videos from their bedroom using nothing more than a webcam and iMovie, and then see them grow to the point where they are now millionaires, with an elaborate home studio, full or part time employees, and are one of the most recognizable faces on the internet.

I don't watch every one of Phil's videos because he has hundreds of them and they can be around 7 or 8 minutes long but I do continue to watch many.  For both the quality of his content and the sheer scale of his contribution I rate sXePhil a:
